Probably one of the most successful franchises on the Nintendo DS handheld console, the Pokemon franchise, will welcome a new member to the family and it will be called Pokemon Platinum. The news has been revealed in the latest issue of the Coro Coro Magazine and, even though most of the fans would've loved to get a brand new Pokemon game, Platinum will only be an expansion. Still better than nothing, right?

According to the magazine, the only facts confirmed officially are those regarding the name (Platinum, that is) and that it is an expansion, like Pokemon Yellow for the Red/Blue games. However, the rumored specifications of the expansion surely give fans a few reasons for joy, especially because it is said that The Underground will be Wi-Fi enabled. Also, we'll probably see Giratina on the box when the game is released this September. A new area, called Battle Island, will be introduced and it will be similar to the Battle Frontier.

Also, fans will notice a few alterations in Gym leaders and Pokemon placement. For example, Volkner will no longer be the Gym leader of Sunyshore City, Giratina and Regigigas will get new forms which will allow them to get the Levitate ability, Shaymin will be at least partially Ice Type with its Another form, and a few new other forms will be introduced (Giratina - Origin Form, Regigigas - Sky Form).

Even though Nintendo will probably run out of names for their Pokemon games (at least if they decide to stick to the minerals), Pokemon Diamond is still one of the best in the franchise, generating a lot of interest from fans worldwide.

i hope so too. im not in the mood to train new pokemon all over again.

by the way, i wonder if they're gonna make a remake of Silver and Gold and stuff, like they did with Red Blue and Yellow version when they made Fire Red and Leaf Green. I would want that game. It would make sense that platinum would be that game, because silver, gold, platinum, they're all metals. am i rite?

Right I'm puting enough effort to make my pokemon's stats max out through EV training. I'm strengthening my weaknesses and making my strengths stronger.

The rumors of Platinum are true (if they were rumors...) there's an official website in Japan about the game that I found. here's the link: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/special/platinum/. its in Japanese, so u prbly wont understand it, but there are pictures, and it's not half bad, by the looks of it.

Its a cool games, Lucas(male trainer) would have a new blue shirt with a grey backpack. Giratina is in its origin form and the games out in usa on july in 2009

so its comin out in 2009? sweet. im kinda satisfied wit just Diamond/Pearl. but i no 1 thing that would make pokemon games so much better! instead of bein turn based, u run around and actually fite! i mean rly, that's how it is in the movies! that would be the coolest thing ever, im not kiddin. maybe should be on the Gamecube though, because DS doesnt have good enuf graphics to make a game like that.

ya, thats exactly wat it is. Compare it to wat y0l3itches said: there were 2 games, Ruby and sapphire, each with it's own ending and legendary pokemon. There's also an alternate legendary pokemon, Rayquaza. When they made emerald, the ending included both legendary pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire, and Rayquaza was there to settle them down. Now look at D/P: Same thing, both games have their own unique ending with their own legendary pokemon. There is also an alternate legendary pokemon, Giratina. If you see the picture on the Japanese website for Platinum, both Dialga and Palkia are in the picture, and Giratina is coming in to do something, maybe settle them down, the alternate legendary pokemon of the previous 4th generation games Diamond and Pearl. You get it? Platinum is to Diamond and Pearl as Emerald is to Ruby and Sapphire. You see how I thought of that?
